During more than 20 years with the firm, Steve has distinguished himself not only as a nationally-recognized litigator, but also as a respected author, educator, and leader in the legal community.

As the managing partner of Lieff Cabraser, Steve was recognized by Lawdragon magazine in 2008 as one of the "100 Managing Partners You Need to Know." The publication stated that Steve:

"Brings the rare ability to herd cats to his role overseeing an exceptional organization of plaintiff class action lawyers."

Steve focuses on representing institutional and individual investors in securities and financial fraud litigation, and on mass tort and consumer fraud litigation.

Additional Engagements

Steve is the Immediate Past President of the Public Justice Foundation and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Civil Justice Foundation. He is a leader in other organizations devoted to serving the interests of civil justice and access to the courts for all.

Steve writes and speaks frequently on federal court practice and complex litigation. He serves as a guest lecturer at Stanford University Law School, is a member of the Stanford University Law School Advisory Forum, Center on the Legal Profession (2011-present), and has played a prominent role in Columbia Law School's Global Justice Forum.

Steve was also a Consultant to the Office of Attorney General, State of New York, in connection with an industry-wide investigation and settlement concerning health insurers' use of the "Ingenix database" to determine usual and customary rates for out-of-network services, April 2008-February 2009.
