Trex Deck Consumer Complaints: Alleged Black Mold and Spotting

The national law firm of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, is currently investigating consumer complaints about Trex home deck materials on behalf of consumers. Trex is a wood and plastic composite material used to build outdoor decks.

The Trex Company claims that Trex is "decking, railing and fencing products that require only periodic cleaning to stay beautiful for years to come – no need for sanding, staining or painting, ever." The Trex Company offers a 25-year limited residential warranty behind these claims.

Some Trex customers have alleged that mold, mildew and other “black spots” have developed on their Trex decking boards and railings. Homeowners have alleged the mold spots are either difficult to keep or unsolvable despite proper installation and maintenance.

Lieff Cabraser is currently investigating complaints concerning the following Trex product lines:

  • Trex Brasilia Decking
  • Trex Contours Decking
  • Trex Accents Decking
  • Trex Accents: Fire Defense Decking
  • Trex Origins Decking
  • Trex Escapes Decking
