ChoiceDek Deck Consumer Complaints: Alleged Mold and Spotting

On January 9, 2009, the U.S. District Court in Seattle granted final approval to a class-wide settlement regarding alleged mold spotting problems with ChoiceDek decking. ChoiceDek is a wood and plastic composite material used to build outdoor decks and railings.

The Settlement covers ChoiceDek product manufactured between January 1, 2004 and October 1, 2006, and offers free and discounted cleanings, mold inhibitor applications, vouchers for use at Lowe's Home Improvement Stores, and product replacement or reimbursement. The exact level of relief depends on a number of factors detailed in the Settlement Agreement and summarized in the Class Notice. You can find these and other pertinent documents at http://www.aert.com/CLASS_ACTION_SETTLEMENT.asp.

Please note that the claim form postmark deadline passed on September 10, 2009. The supplemental claim form period, for those who submitted timely claim forms and received the initial deck cleaning, continues for eighteen months after your initial cleaning. If you have any questions regarding the Settlement, the status of your claim, or the supplemental claim form process, feel free to visit the settlement website or call the ChoiceDek customer service hotline at 877-220-6624.
