Abusive Autodialer and Robocall Complaints
- Issue: Abusive robocalls
The Telephone Consumer Protection Act prohibits abusive telephone practices by lenders and marketers, and places strict limits on the use of autodialers to call or send texts to cell phones.
Lieff Cabraser represents consumers who have received pre-recorded calls, but did not expressly consent to be called on their cell phones on their original loan or credit card application.
Lieff Cabraser also is investigating companies that send unsolicited text messages to customers who did not expressly consent to receiving such messages.
"Nobody should be subjected to repeated, intrusive autodialer calls at all hours from a debt collector, lender, or other company, especially on their cell phones," commented attorney Jonathan D. Selbin of Lieff Cabraser.
Lieff Cabraser has entered into settlements to recover more that $30 million for customers of Sallie Mae and Chase.
