AT&T Wireless/Cell Phone Co. Unauthorized 3rd Party Fees ("Cramming")
- Issue: Unauthorized fees
At the request of subscribers, we are investigating claims that AT&T Wireless/Mobility and other cell phone companies have improperly charged customers unauthorized fees from third parties.
Consumers have complained that AT&T and other cell phone service companies have included unauthorized charges on their bills -- even when the consumers had not purchased the services for which they were billed or did not even receive those services. We understand that companies like jamster.com and others that provide ringtones or other mobile content and even other services unrelated to mobile telephone services charge those fees under arrangements with AT&T and other cell phone service companies. Those unauthorized charges can add up to $100 or more per year.
