Consumer Complaints
The national law firm of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, is currently investigating consumer complaints about wood windows and doors manufactured by Kolbe & Kolbe Millworks Co., Inc. Homeowners and other consumers who have purchased Kolbe & Kolbe products have alleged that the company produced and sold certain windows and doors that are prone to premature failure, citing problems with rotting wood in the frames and windows. Specifically, this investigation centers around Kolbe & Kolbe’s products that are coated with K-Kron, a specially-formulated, optional exterior finish.
Kolbe & Kolbe allegedly utilizes finger-jointed pine and other woods in the construction of its products, which are prone to joint separation and/or cracking. It is alleged that the construction design allows water to intrude into the window frame, where it is inadvertently trapped by the K-Kron sealant and eventually causes rot, which can lead to costly repair and replacement. Additionally, the premature failure of the windows and doors can lead to extensive water damage to homes and other buildings due to water leaks.
