ThermalEase and UltraPEX Cross-Lined Polyethylene (PEX) Tubing Complaints

On behalf of homeowners, we have filed a lawsuit based on complaints involving the manufacture, sale and advertising of UltraPEX pipes or tubing. UltraPEX is a brand name for pipes or tubing incorporated in hydronic heating systems and used for hot and cold water plumbing. UltraPEX pipes consist of cross-linked, non-barrier plastic (polyethylene) pipes or tubing. The ThermalEase Company is a distributor of UltraPEX pipes.
While radiant heating has been used for decades in Europe, newer hydronic heating systems have become increasingly sold in the United States and Canada. Many of these systems use UltraPEX tubing to transport hot water from the hot water heater to fan coils which blow hot air into individual rooms. It has been alleged that UltraPEX pipes prematurely degrade and crack, releasing hot water and causing property damage when used in hot water applications, including hydronic heating systems.
If you own a house or other structure in which UltraPEX tubing has been installed since 1995 to transport hot water and have experienced any tubing failure, please contact a Lieff Cabraser attorney at no cost or obligation. Before contacting us, however, please attempt to identify the brand name of the piping used in your system and the date of its installation. This information is generally printed on the tubing and, if incorporated in a hydronic heating system, can usually be observed at or near the manifold in the garage.
