Judge Rules Some BP Spill Victims Can Seek Punitive Damages

On August 26, 2011, U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier issued an order adopting an expansive view of economic damage for the 2010 Macondo well blowout, allowing some businesses and individuals suing BP and other involved companies to seek punitive damages, reported NOLA.com.
