Virginia and Ohio Patients File Suit for Alleged Defective DePuy ASR Hip Implant

Wendy R. Fleishman of the national plaintiffs’ law firm Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, announced that plaintiffs residing in Virginia and Ohio have filed a personal injury lawsuit against DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc., and its parent company, Johnson & Johnson, Inc., for the failure of the ASR metal hip implant that they both received. The lawsuit charges that DePuy carelessly and negligently manufactured, marketed, and sold the ASR System. As a result of alleged defects, for one plaintiff the artificial hip implant caused severe pain, inhibited her ability to walk, move and sleep, and required revision surgery, and for the other plaintiff the artificial hip implant caused elevated blood metal levels.
“Far too many patients with the DePuy ASR hip have experienced reactions to metal debris and failure of their implant, requiring painful revision surgeries," stated attorney Fleishman. "DePuy and Johnson & Johnson must accept full responsibility for the lost wages and income, medical expenses, and pain and suffering incurred by patients whose ASR hip implant has failed.”
