Kelly Dermody Speaks at Conference of Chief Justices Meeting
January 31, 2012
Lieff Cabraser partner and President of the Bar Association of San Francisco Kelly M. Dermody participated in a panel discussion on "Business Regulation through Litigation and Prosecution" today at the midyear meeting of the Conference of Chief Justices in Wilmington, Delaware. Ms. Dermody explained the vital role our civil justice system plays in deterring corporate misconduct and promoting sound public policy by creating incentives for corporations to produce safer products, compete fairly in the marketplace, and ensure workplaces free of discrimination and harassment.
Moderated by Henry Butler, Executive Director of the Law and Economics Center of George Mason University Law School, Ms. Dermody was joined on the panel with Joseph ("Beau") Biden III, Attorney General of Delaware, and Luke Mette, Deputy General Counsel for Litigation at AstraZeneca Global.
Founded in 1949, the Conference of Chief Justices brings together the highest judicial officers of the states to discuss rules of procedure and the organization and operation of state courts and judicial systems, and to make recommendations to improve the administration of justice.
