Reuters, "Costco Target of Sex Bias Lawsuit"
Lawyers leading a record-setting sex discrimination case against Wal-Mart Stores said on Tuesday they filed a lawsuit against Costco Wholesale Corp., claiming the company kept women out of top store management posts. Promotion into Costco's most lucrative warehouse level positions is based on "entirely subjective judgments, which are often infected with conscious or unconscious prejudices and gender-based stereotypes," according to the complaint submitted by Lieff Cabraser. Fewer than one in six of Costco's top store managers are women while about half of the company's work force are females, according to the complaint.
