Dangerous Defective Pools, Wading Pool and Tubs

While pools, wading pools and tubs can be great fun, when defective or unsafely designed they can be hazardous to pose particularly serious dangers to babies and toddlers.

Common safety hazards that parents should be aware of include obvious hazards like drownings but also more hidden dangers like electric shocks in pools, tubs and spas. Infant injuries can also occur due to defective suction drains, and serious infections can result from improperly cleaned pools.

The Electrocution Problem

Faulty underwater lighting, aging wiring and vacuums that are not grounded can all cause electrocution. There have been 60 deaths and nearly 50 serious shocks reported over the past 13 years involving electrical hazards in and around swimming pools.
