Zonolite Attic Insulation Class Action
Lieff Cabraser is not currently handling individual Zonolite claims, and you
should contact co-counsel Darrell Scott of The Scott Law Group for all such
property damage claims and for personal injury claims due to occupational exposure.
For all other personal injury claims, you are encouraged to contact a local
attorney.
Following a class action suit in 2000 against the W.R. Grace company, The
Scott Law Group has been involved in seeking compensation for homeowners for
the cost of testing for asbestos, reducing asbestos contamination, remedial
measures, and loss in use and value of their home caused by Zonolite. The W.R.
Grace company manufactured and sold Zonolite insulation contaminated with asbestos
from the years 1925 to 1985. If your insulation dates from this time period,
you may be eligible for compensation from W.R. Grace company.
The court has set a bar date of October 31, 2008 to file all Proof of Claim
forms for property damage. In order to preserve your case against W.R. Grace,
you must file your claim by this date. The company's liabilities to homeowners
will be handled within the framework of bankruptcy, as W.R. Grace filed for
bankruptcy on April 2, 2001.
To protect your rights, you are strongly encouraged to submit
the Zonolite questionnaire from The Scott Law Group.
The Scott Law Group will evaluate your claim and your eligibility for compensation
from the W.R. Grace company. Alternatively, you can access the Proof of Claim
form at www.graceclaims.com.
The court has not yet approved a compensation plan for Zonolite personal injury
claims, and the bar date above applies only to property damage claims. If you
have a personal injury claim, you are encouraged to contact a local attorney
for representation.
Insulation contaminated with asbestos can be extremely dangerous. However,
the most danger occurs only when the insulation is disturbed in some way, or
if there is existing wear and tear on the material. You are strongly
encouraged not to disturb Zonolite insulation, to minimize household activity around the
insulation, and to seek professional help if you decide to remove it.
