New York City “Lawyer of the Year” Rachel Geman to be Recognized by Best Lawyers

On May 1, 2014, Best Lawyers will host the program “New York City Women in the Law” featuring a presentation by former Attorney Deputy General Jamie Gorelick and an awards ceremony recognizing distinguished women lawyers including Lieff Cabraser’s Rachel Geman.

Of the 2,627 attorneys in working New York City selected for inclusion in the 20th edition of The Best Lawyers in America, the nation’s oldest peer-reviewed lawyer publication, 368 are women. Of this group, 23 were named a “Lawyer of the Year” for 2014. Best Lawyers selected Rachel Geman as a “Lawyer of the Year” in the category of “Employment Law – Individuals.”

geman.jpgRachel Geman’s practice is dedicated to class actions and complex plaintiff-side litigation on behalf of employees, whistleblowers/relators, employee organizations, and consumers. Ms. Geman has served as Co-Lead class counsel or counsel for the class in representations of female financial advisors who settled class claims of gender discrimination at Merrill Lynch; ERISA-covered plans who settled class ERISA claims against AXA Rosenberg, LLP; and consumers in multiple class settlements involving credit-card add-on products against major banks including Bank of America and HSBC.

Ms. Geman has also represented employee whistleblower relators in the pharmaceutical and for-profit educational industries, and is currently working with the ACLU and NCLC on civil rights litigation involving mortgage securitizations. She is a frequent writer and speaker on employment law and class actions.
