Legal news service Law360 has announced the winners of its Practice Groups of the Year award, “awarded to firms that came through for their clients in 2014, sealing the big deals and winning the high-stakes suits.” Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein was selected as Law360’s Product Liability Group of the Year.
This marks the first year that Lieff Cabraser was selected to be among the prestigious Practice Groups of the Year. The firm was recognized for its active involvement in the Toyota Motor Corp., Stryker, General Motors, and Philip Morris USA and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco cases, among others.
“When large companies take advantage of their position to the detriment of consumers and it results in physical harm to those individuals, that’s where we step in,” stated Lieff Cabraser partner and personal injury group co-chair Robert Nelson. “The types of cases we involve ourselves in are really as varied as the types of fraud perpetuated on consumers.”
In its profile of the firm, Law360 wrote, “In deciding what cases to pursue, the firm does not limit itself to a certain subject matter or geographic region. Instead, it focuses on the severity of the alleged injury and the corporate conduct that may have caused it, as well as what remedy is available under the law to right the perceived wrong.”
