Jury Holds RJ Reynolds Accountable to Florida Widow

$40 Million Settlement For Consumers in TracFone Class Action

Michael W. Prescription Drug Risperdal Linked to Abnormal Male Breast Development

Attorney Wendy R. Fleishman of the national plaintiffs’ law firm Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, announced that four young men prescribed the antipsychotic medication Risperdal recently filed separate personal injury lawsuits alleging that Risperdal is a defective and dangerous prescription drug. The complaints were brought against Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary Janssen Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of Risperdal, in state court in Pennsylvania, where Janssen Pharmaceuticals is located. Supreme Court’s Ruling Ensures Right of MDL Litigants to Timely Appeal

The U.S. Supreme Court issued a significant ruling last week for litigants in multidistrict litigation. Multidistrict proceedings (commonly referred to as “MDLs”) consist of multiple civil cases in federal court involving similar factual issues that are coordinated or consolidated for discovery proceedings and pretrial motions before one federal judge. MDLs are intended to achieve efficiency and avoid conflicting rulings that might occur if similar cases were litigated in different courts. Recent examples of MDLs in which Lieff Cabraser plays a leading role include the GM ignition-switch litigation and the Toyota sudden-acceleration lawsuits.

Patients Charge Benicar is a Dangerous and Defective Drug

Attorney Lexi Hazam of the national plaintiffs’ law firm Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, announced that two patients prescribed olmesartan medoxomil, a widely-prescribed medication sold under the brand name Benicar, today filed a personal injury lawsuit alleging that Benicar is a dangerous and defective drug. The complaint, filed in federal court in San Francisco, names as defendants Japanese-based Daiichi Sankyo, Benicar’s manufacturer, and Forest Laboratories, which marketed Benicar in the U.S. Steven W.
