Elizabeth Cabraser Recognized as NJC’s Newest Pillar of Justice

Lieff Cabraser co-founder and name partner Elizabeth J. Cabraser has become the newest Pillar of Justice donor for The National Judicial College (NJC). Pillars of Justice fund donors help provide and implement innovative programs, judicial education, and professional development services to meet the needs of the nation’s judicial branch, as well as institute positive change to the court system. Ms. Cabraser joins a valued group of donors at the Freedom Circle level, investing in the College’s mission to educate judges, innovate judicial learning, improve the delivery of justice, and advance the rule of law.

“As courtroom lawyers, we treasure judges and appreciate the tremendous and necessary work they do, often under daunting circumstances: heavy caseloads, limited resources,” said Ms. Cabraser. “Anything we can do to support the judiciary, we see as an opportunity to promote justice for all.”

“We can’t say thank you enough to Elizabeth for her gift,” stated Hon. Chad Schmucker, NJC’s president. “Every aspect of our programming benefits from her generosity.”

Established in 1963, The National Judicial College has become the leading national provider for judicial education, and was the first to offer programs to judges nationwide. The NJC offers an average of 90 courses each year with over 4,000 judges from all 50 states in attendance. The College is the one place where judges can meet up to discuss and learn more about the judiciary through professional study and collegial dialogue.

“A good judge – like a lawyer – is a good listener,” Ms. Cabraser explained. “A good judge listen to both sides, asks hard questions, and isn’t afraid to make decisions. Most judges score very highly on these points.”
