Congressional Bill HR 1215 Will Restrict Americans’ Rights to Obtain Justice in Medical Malpractice Cases

Congress is about to vote on a bill that could restrict the rights of all Americans to obtain justice in our court system in cases of medical malpractice, including in cases involving negligent nursing homes and defective prescription drugs and medical devices. This bill would tip the scale against injured patients and their families in favor of the insurance industry and other large corporations.

The so-called “Protecting Access to Care Act of 2017” (H.R. 1215) would, among other things, make it much harder for injured people to bring a lawsuit against large healthcare companies that have engaged in wrongful conduct. The bill could also make it much easier for these companies to get away with wrongful conduct and put more patients and consumers at risk.

Learn more about what this bill might do and how it will affect YOU. You will also find a link to make a call or send a letter to your Representative and Senators to tell them to stand up for you and your family and vote NO on this bill. Your voice matters and could make a difference.

Lieff Cabraser Heimann and Bernstein is working with nonpartisan consumer and patients’ rights groups and members of Congress to fight this bill. But we need your help.

Tell Congress how a company’s wrongful conduct has affected you and your family, and why you value your right to seek justice in court. Your elected officials need to hear from you that this bill is unfair.

Don’t let Congress slam shut the courthouse doors.
