John Maher

John D. Maher is an associate in Lieff Cabraser’s San Francisco office with a practice focused on digital privacy and consumer protection.

John’s work encompasses digital privacy litigation in the United States and European Union against Google, Facebook, Oracle, and others, including In re: Google Location History Litigation on behalf of users whose locations were unlawfully tracked by Google, and ongoing litigation against Oracle based on the company’s intrusive consumer profiles.

John also represented class members in litigation against Theranos and Walgreens in District Court and before the Ninth Circuit, and worked on the Supreme Court appeal of TransUnion v. Ramirez.

Prior to joining Lieff Cabraser, John clerked for Judge Lucy H. Koh at the Northern District of California, and Chief Judge Diane P. Wood at the Seventh Circuit. He is a San Francisco native and Berkeley Law graduate, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Editor-in-Chief of Ecology Law Quarterly. John lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughter.
