Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Trial Lawyers’ Community Relief Fund has made significant disaster relief grants to five local community organizations following the devastating August 2021 flood that hit Humphreys County and Waverly, Tennessee. The financial contributions will benefit the community directly through donations to Salter’s Chapel AME Church, the Humphreys Homeless Coalition, Waverly Church of Christ, the Humphreys County Humane Society, and Waverly Elks Lodge No. 2289.

Lieff Cabraser’s Nashville office and members of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA) originally created the Trial Lawyers’ Community Relief Fund to assist victims of the March 2020 tornadoes that hit Nashville and other communities across Tennessee. The ongoing fund is administered through The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and allows attorneys and others in Tennessee and nationwide to make critical local contributions the moment the need arises.

“Trial lawyers have dedicated their careers to helping our brothers and sisters in need, often during the most difficult periods of their lives,” said Mark Chalos, managing partner of Lieff Cabraser’s Nashville office. “We are humbled to be able to help ease the burden for our neighbors impacted by the devastating floods.”

John Griffith, founder of Griffith Law in Franklin, Tennessee, and past-president of TTLA, who is also a native of Humphreys County, said, “The devastation to the Humphreys County community is heartbreaking. But I have no doubt that the community will pull together and rebuild.”

The Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association aims to protect the constitutional guarantee of access to justice for Tennesseans, Tennessee families, and small businesses across the state. Learn more at www.ttla.org.
