On Saturday June 10, 2023, Lieff Cabraser partner Tiseme Zegeye connected with the Southern California community at the 2023 Long Beach Women’s Health Expo, an annual event that has served as a vital platform for advancing women’s health issues for over two decades.
Zegeye and Legal Nurse Consultant Monica Bullard were honored to have the opportunity to engage with the community at the event, sharing information about Lieff Cabraser’s work in the field of women’s health and civil rights, and specifically about the firm’s leadership role in the ongoing federal multidistrict injury lawsuit against the manufacturers of certain hair relaxer products. The litigation alleges that extended use of these products can lead to uterine and ovarian cancer. The case also raises fundamental civil rights concerns relating to the historic stigmatization of natural hair among women of color.
In an effort to foster widespread awareness and understanding of these and other important issues, Lieff Cabraser is producing a Black Health newsletter, an informational resource that will deliver regular updates about health and health-related lawsuits of particular interest to the Black community. Those interested in subscribing can do so easily at http://eepurl.com/itED6k to stay updated on the Hair Relaxers case and other health and civil rights topics.
