We are pleased to announce that the Daily Journal (subscription) has named Lieff Cabraser partners Elizabeth J. Cabraser and Richard M. Heimann to its fourth annual list of “Leading Commercial Litigators in California.” The award recognizes attorneys who have served as lead counsel in high-profile litigation that has significantly impacted the state.
Elizabeth was recognized most notably for her leadership in Thakur v. Trump, the ongoing class action challenging the abrupt termination of critical federal research grants across the University of California system. The litigation has already helped secure the reinstatement of nearly $1 billion in grants. The Journal also highlighted her work in complex litigation involving tariff payors seeking recovery of funds allegedly collected unlawfully, as well as her continued leadership in major matters like the Camp Lejune poisoning cases which involve the federal government as a defendant.
Richard was honored for his work in pro bono litigation on behalf of U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) workers affected by the unauthorized dismantling of the agency by Elon Musk and DOGE, which disrupted life-saving humanitarian and public health programs serving more than 100 countries. He was also recognized for his work alongside Elizabeth and the legal team in Thakur v. Trump and for his leadership in significant securities fraud litigation involving Block, Inc.
Congratulations to Elizabeth and Richard!
