Law.com highlights individual lawyers seeking leadership roles in Juul MDL

As reported by Law.com (subscription), a diverse set of nearly 50 lawyers have submitted proposals to lead the national multidistrict Juul e-cigarette fraud and injury litigation. One of the proposed leadership teams includes Lieff Cabraser partner Sarah London, and if approved would be one of the most diverse in multidistrict litigation history. The team includes ten women and three minority lawyers. The group may also add two additional women.

If the team is approved, Lieff Cabraser partner Sarah R. London  will serve as Liaison Counsel.

In her application, as noted by Law.com, Sarah London referenced her successful work in lawsuits filed against the tobacco companies, as Altria Group Inc., the parent company of Philip Morris, owns 35% of Juul and is an additional defendant in some of the lawsuits.

“This case is an emergency. We are in the midst of a public health nicotine addiction and vaping crisis among kids, and cases should proceed to trial without delay,” noted London, who said she has litigated more than 3,000 tobacco cases in Florida over the past five years and helped achieve a precedent-setting $100 million collective settlement with Big Tobacco in 2015.
