Only one lawyer gets “Lawyer of the Year” recognition for each specialty and location
Best Lawyers has published its new lawyer and law firm ratings for 2021, and we are proud to highlight Lieff Cabraser Michael W. Sobol’s selection as “Lawyer of the Year” for Mass Tort & Class Action Litigation for Northern California.
The oldest peer review publication in the legal profession, Best Lawyers strives to “capture the consensus opinion of leading lawyers” with its annual listing of the most highly regarded practitioners in the law. Further recognition is also awarded to “Lawyers of the Year,” individual lawyers with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region; only one lawyer is recognized as the Lawyer of the Year for each specialty and location.
Best Lawyers’ choice of Michael as its Mass Tort & Class Action Law – Lawyer of the Year for Northern California reflects Michael’s unrelenting work on behalf of clients in cases like the Anthem Patient Data Breach litigation, the Wells Fargo Overdraft Fees litigation which resulted in a $203 million judgment for restitution on behalf of a class of over one million California consumers, and the Yourke v. Bank of America overdraft fees case which produced a $410 million settlement for customers nationwide.
Michael’s newest cases involve allegations of consumer privacy rights violations against Facebook and allegations against Morgan Stanley for discriminatory lending practices in violation of the Fair Housing Act and other civil rights laws.
