Melissa Gardner to Discuss California Consumer Privacy Act and its Impact on Existing Laws at BASF Cybersecurity and Privacy Law Conference

Lieff Cabraser partner Melissa Gardner will speak at the Bar Association of San Francisco’s 2020 Cybersecurity and Privacy Law Virtual Conference on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Melissa will be featured on the panel “How the CCPA Relates to Other Existing Laws,” where she and Latham & Watkins partner Michael Rubin will explore how the CCPA interacts with other laws, such as trade secret protections, HIPAA and other special purpose data. The panel will also feature perspectives on the CCPA in consumer privacy litigation, where the contours of its private right of action; its potential to support common law and derivative claims; and its safe harbor protections are being tested.
