The Am Law Litigation Daily has named Lieff Cabraser partner Elizabeth Cabraser and her colleagues on the negotiating team of plaintiffs’ lawyers behind the recently revamped $26 billion proposed opioid settlement as its Litigators of the Week for their role in getting the deal with Johnson & Johnson and three opioid drug distributors back on track.

The newly proposed settlement comes two years after many of the same lawyers introduced an innovative approach of creating a negotiation class of government authorities empowered to negotiate a global settlement with the drug manufacturers accused of fueling the destructive opioid addiction crisis. The “negotiation class” concept was originally proposed in June 2019 to resolve the majority of the over 4,000 lawsuits bringing claims against the drug companies.

Congratulations to the National Prescription Opiates litigation team on getting the new deal moving forward!
