We are pleased to announce that the American Antitrust Institute (AAI) and the Committee to Support the Antitrust Laws (COSAL) have selected Lieff Cabraser partner Lin Y. Chan as the very first recipient of the Hollis Salzman Memorial Leadership Award. The criteria for the award include “a demonstrated track record of integrity and collegiality,” “an active interest in mentoring other members of the plaintiffs’ antitrust bar,” having “advanced opportunities for other women or attorneys from underrepresented groups in the bar” and “demonstrated leadership in the plaintiffs’ antitrust bar.”  This is the first time AAI has created an award recognizing the body of work of an individual lawyer, and we are proud to say that Lin does not merely meet these criteria—she exemplifies them.

AAI and COSAL created the Hollis Salzman Memorial Leadership Award in 2021 to honor the life of Hollis Salzman, a friend, colleague, and incomparable member of the antitrust community. One of the nation’s leading antitrust attorneys, Ms. Salzman spent more than 25 years litigating some of the world’s largest cases and recovered over $2 billion in settlements for victims of antitrust cartels and unfair competition practices. She was a champion of gender equality and diversity in the legal profession, fully embracing her role as a mentor and role model to other female attorneys, and helping to inspire them to shine on their own.

AAI and COSAL highlighted Lin’s many leadership roles within the legal community, including her current role as Vice President of COSAL and as a member of the AAI’s Advisory Board. As an officer of COSAL, she helped establish its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to increase engagement by antitrust practitioners from historically underrepresented groups. She also serves as an officer of the Board of Directors for the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area.

Lin will be honored at AAI’s Awards Night on November 10, 2021 in Washington, DC.

Congratulations to Lin on this outstanding accomplishment!
