We are pleased to announce that the Daily Journal (subscription) has named Lieff Cabraser partners Elizabeth Cabraser and Sarah London to its annual listing of “Top Plaintiff Lawyers in California.” The awards recognize the top-performing plaintiff lawyers across the state.

Elizabeth is recognized for her work as part of a team representing the City and County of San Francisco against opioid manufacturers and distributors for their role in creating and perpetuating the prescription opioid crisis still devastating communities across the U.S. In July 2022, the team secured a $54 million settlement with some of the defendants, and later that year Walgreens agreed to pay the city $230 million after a bench trial court found it liable for substantially contributing to the opioid crisis in San Francisco

The Journal named Sarah for her groundbreaking work in the Juul injury/predatory marketing MDL, which accuses Juul and its owners Altria/Phillip Morris of predatory marketing, design defects, intentional misrepresentation, and fraudulent concealment in their marketing of e-cigarettes. Her work led to four historic settlements announced in late 2022 with Juul as well as a comprehensive and historic $235 million settlement with Altria. In addition to providing monetary relief to thousands of plaintiffs, the settlements have also helped enforce mandatory changes to Juul/Altria’s marketing and other practices, aiming to curb and contain youth vaping.

Congratulations to Elizabeth and Sarah on this prestigious and well-deserved recognition!
