We are pleased to announce that the Daily Journal (subscription) has named Lieff Cabraser partners Richard M. Heimann and Sarah R. London to its second annual listing of “Leading Commercial Litigators in California” The award recognizes attorneys who have been lead counsel on major litigation that has significantly impacted the state.

The Journal’s profile of Richard spotlights his current involvement in two major, ongoing securities fraud cases. The first revolves around a significant insider trading allegation, where a company is accused of funneling tens of millions of dollars to Ohio state legislators (including the now-expelled and incarcerated speaker of the state house) to gain preferential legislation.

Additionally, Richard is actively engaged in a high-profile shareholder derivative lawsuit against Fox Corp. alleging that the company’s leadership breached their fiduciary duties in creating a business model that essentially promoted and endorsed the illegal practice of defamation despite the known risk of liability for such content.

The Journal’s profile on Sarah highlights her role as Co-Lead Counsel and Liaison Counsel for plaintiffs in the nationwide multidistrict Juul e-cigarette fraud and injury litigation. Her work was instrumental in achieving four landmark settlements with Juul that were announced in December 2022. Moreover, Sarah’s efforts contributed to a significant additional $235 million settlement in May 2023 reached between additional defendant Altria and plaintiffs in a subsequent JUUL bellwether trial. The settlements will provide desperately needed relief for individuals, local government entities, and Native American tribes harmed by the e-cigarette maker.

Congratulations to Richard and Sarah on this prestigious and well-deserved recognition!
