Lieff Cabraser Nashville Office Managing Partner Mark P. Chalos was featured recently in a FOX 17 news segment, “Interview: Protecting Children from AI Abuse Images,” discussing the growing dangers of artificial intelligence being used to create exploitative and abusive images involving children.

Chalos discussed the arrest of a local man accused of using X’s Grok AI tool to create explicit images involving children and the broader dangers of AI-generated abuse material.

Chalos, whose practice includes representing survivors of institutional sexual abuse, explained how AI tools are increasingly being misused to create sexually explicit deepfakes and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) using real images of minors—often with little to no meaningful safeguards in place to prevent it. In some cases, companies are even profiting from this abuse by placing these tools behind paywalls and promoting premium features that enable harmful content.

These same concerns are at the center of Lieff Cabraser’s litigation against xAI. In March 2026, Lieff Cabraser and co-counsel filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of victims whose real photographs were used to create AI-generated CSAM through Grok. The complaint alleges that xAI knowingly designed, marketed, and profited from tools capable of generating sexually explicit content involving real people, including children, while failing to implement meaningful safeguards to prevent abuse.

Our firm also represents plaintiffs in similar litigation involving allegations that Roblox failed to protect children from sexual exploitation on its platform.
