Nara Organics has recalled its Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula following reports that three infants were hospitalized with infant botulism after consuming the product. According to the Los Angeles Times, the affected infants ranged in age from 2 to 5 months old and were treated for the potentially life-threatening illness.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has advised parents and caregivers to immediately stop using the recalled formula and return or dispose of any unopened containers. Officials also recommend closely monitoring infants who consumed the product for symptoms including difficulty swallowing, poor feeding, constipation, loss of head control, drooping eyelids, sluggish pupils, decreased facial expression, or a weak cry, as symptoms can take weeks to develop.
