Chalos was featured recently in a FOX13 Memphis news segment discussing the firm’s lawsuit against xAI over allegations that its chatbot, Grok, was used to generate child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The piece also examines Minnesota’s new law banning “nudify” apps that allow users to create explicit deepfakes, xAI’s constitutional challenge to the law, and the broader debate over how technology companies should safeguard their platforms from misuse.
Chalos, who represents five children in the case, discussed the allegations, including those involving an 11-year-old girl whose photo was used by Grok to generate approximately 7,000 sexually explicit AI-generated images without her consent.
“They knew that this was a possibility,” Chalos said. “They knew that these tools existed and could be and were, in fact, being used to create child sexual abuse material. Rather than to fix it, they chose to profit from it.”
