Lieff Cabraser attorneys Dan Drachler and Emily Harwell will take part in the 2026 Tribal In-House Counsel Association (TICA) Conference, October 29–30 at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California. The annual event brings together attorneys and legal professionals who work with Tribal governments to discuss important legal issues affecting Native American communities.

On October 29, Emily will speak on the panel “Tribal PFAS Litigation – Working with Outside Counsel,” moderated by Dan. She will be joined by Benjamin Swankier, General Counsel for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, and Amanda Saunders of Sonosky, Chambers, Sachse, Miller & Monkman, LLP.

The panel will explore how PFAS, commonly known as “forever chemicals,” threaten the health of Tribal citizens and natural resources, as well as how Tribes are pursuing legal action to address contamination.

Lieff Cabraser represents the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe in ongoing litigation against 3M, BASF, DuPont, Tyco, and other companies over PFAS contamination affecting the Tribe’s water supplies and natural resources in northern Minnesota. Used for decades in manufacturing, firefighting, and consumer products, PFAS have raised growing concerns about their effects on human health and the environment.

The conference will be held both in person and virtually. Lieff Cabraser is a proud sponsor of this year’s event.
