Nissan Leaf Battery Fire Risk Investigation
Nissan Leaf electric vehicles are being recalled over battery overheating and fire risks tied to DC (Level 3) fast charging
Lieff Cabraser is investigating complaints that a recent safety recall involving nearly 24,000 2019–2022 Nissan Leaf vehicles equipped with DC fast charging capability has left owners and lessees with unsafe cars. Owners were warned not to use DC fast charging until Nissan provided a fix, but more than a year later no remedy has been delivered.
This apparent defect increases the risk of vehicle fires and leaves drivers without access to a key feature of their vehicles. Owners face not only serious safety concerns, but also diminished value and loss of use.
