Natera Preimplantation Genetic Test “No-Result” Failures and Complaints
Lieff Cabraser is investigating reports that a sizeable portion of recent Natera Preimplantation Genetic Tests (PGTs) were contaminated by a tained supply chemical that resulted in unusable tests. As these tests are performed on viable embryos after thawing and just before implantation, seeking to confirm the presence or absence of serious birth defects and other illnesses, such “no result” readings leave families with no choice but to terminate the embryos.
Natera claims a standard test failure rate of less than 2%, but at least one prospective parent has reported that she received a 100% failure rate and “no-result” in Natera testing for multiple embryo samples — more than 50 times the fallability of what Natera assures its clients is a 98+% usable result rate.
Many of Natera’s PGT clients rely on its Preimplantation Embryo Testing to screen out embryos bearing congenital defects as well as numerous other maladies. In this regard, a “no-results” return on a PGT results in the embryos being wholly unusable, as there is no proof that the suspected and feared conditions are present in the samples.
If you have had Natera Preimplantation Genetic Testing performed on your embryos and received a disturbingly high test failure rate, such that your embryos had to be terminated, we urge you to talk to Women’s Health Lawyer and Lieff Cabraser partner Sarah R. London today about your rights and potential recovery.
