Target “Up & Up” Baby Wipe Contamination Investigation
Lieff Cabraser’s infant injury team is investigating reports of “Up & Up” brand baby wipes recalled by Target after customers complained about product discoloration and reports of infections that might link to contamination in the wipes. FDA testing revealed the presence of Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli in product samples, bacteria that “can cause life-threatening infections,” particularly in infants or the immuno-compromised.
