In July of 2025, credit reporting agency TransUnion suffered a major data breach that potentially exposed the data of an estimated 4.4 million consumer users. During the breach, hackers gained access to TransUnion’s database, and compromised users’ highly sensitive personal and financial consumer information, including Social Security numbers and birth dates.
