We are proud to announce that Daniel M. Hutchinson has been named Chair of the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. Daniel has demonstrated his leadership and vision in the field of employment law by litigating and settling complex employment class actions. As a partner at Lieff Cabraser, Daniel served as lead or co-lead counsel on cases that recovered over $800 million for his clients in a variety of industries and across myriad discrimination, unpaid wages, ERISA, consumer protection, and financial fraud matters. Prior to joining Lieff Cabraser in 2005, Daniel graduated from Berkeley Law and Brown University.
From 1999 to 2002, Daniel worked as a public school teacher in Oakland, California, where he still lives with his wife, Angelica, who is a civil rights lawyer, and their two daughters. As practice group chair, Daniel will support Lieff Cabraser’s broad range of employment cases challenging wage theft, gender and race discrimination, unpaid overtime, meal and rest break violations, and pension plan abuses.
In recent years, Lieff Cabraser has also recovered over $540 million for workers in ground-breaking and ongoing class action litigation to stop employers from suppressing employees’ pay, vindicated righteous whistleblowers who uncovered their employers’ frauds, and recouped over $1.5 billion for incarcerated Americans and their families unlawfully denied stimulus payments under the CARES Act.
We are thrilled to announce Daniel’s new role and welcome his leadership in bringing our employment cases forward on behalf of all of the group’s clients.
