Lieff Cabraser is investigating reports of a defect in the General Motors eBoost “brake-by-wire” system across a wide range of GM vehicles. Drivers report that a fracture within the eBoost systems of their GM vehicles can cause affected vehicles to immediately lose all brake assist entirely — leaving them with an unassisted full-manual brake pedal that fails to stop high-speed motion.

At least one driver experienced a brake failure causing their vehicle to run over a curb only to finally come to rest inside a furniture store; another had to steer their vehicle into a concrete curb to avoid entering a busy intersection at high speed.

The complaints relate to the eBoost system in 2023-2026 model year Cadillac Lyriq, Celestiq, and Optiq vehicles; Chevrolet Colorado, Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and Traverse vehicles; Buick Enclave and Envision vehicles; GMC Canyon and Acadia vehicles; and the Cruise Origin robotaxi.
