On April 28, 2025, GM recalled the following vehicles equipped with 6.2-liter V-8 engines: 2021 – 2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV; Chevy Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe; and GMC Sierra 1500s, Yukon, and Yukon XL. You can read about the recall here.

Under the recall, all vehicles will have to transition from using lower-viscosity motor oil (0W-20) to a higher-viscosity oil (0W-40) to provide more “protection” for the engine. The problem is that thicker motor oil can significantly impact engine performance and increase operating costs. We are bringing a class action to make sure that owners are fairly compensated.

On May 12, 2025, Lieff Cabraser and co-counsel filed a class action complaint in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on behalf of affected owners. You can read a copy of the complaint.
