Graco Booster Seat Fraud Claims Echo Lieff Cabraser’s Current Lawsuit Against Evenflo Company Over Similar Fraudulent Marketing of Dangerous Child Car Seats

Lieff Cabraser is currently investigating potential claims against Graco child booster seat manufacturer over allegations of fraud and dangerously deceptive marketing leading to child injuries

Earlier this year, Lieff Cabraser filed a lawsuit on behalf of parents who purchased Evenflo’s Big Kid Booster car seats alleging the company knew the seats were unsafe for smaller children yet aggressively marketed them across multiple child ages and sizes regardless. The complaint reports that Evenflo has known since 2012 or earlier that its Big Kid Booster Seat is not safe for children weighing less than forty pounds, and does not appreciably reduce the risk of serious injury or death from side-impacts or collisions. U.S. Lawmakers Urge FDA to Clear E-cigarettes From Market For Duration of Coronavirus Crisis

As reported by CNN, lawmakers have urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to temporarily clear the market of all e-cigarettes for the length of the coronavirus crisis. Proposed Settlement Reached in Disney and Viacom Child Privacy Violation Lawsuits

As reported by Law360 (subscription), on Wednesday, August 6, 2020, Disney, Viacom, Kiloo and other gaming companies reached a proposed settlement agreement with parents who accused them of violating child privacy protection laws by collecting and selling personal identifying information of children who used their child-focused mobile apps. As reported by Law.com (subscription), on Monday, August 3, 2020, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an extension of the historic Child Victims Act that gives survivors of childhood sexual abuse an additional year to bring lawsuits for sexual abuses that occurred even decades ago. This extension to August 14, 2021 gives survivors another 12 months to file civil suits against their alleged abusers and the institutions that protected them — regardless of the date of the original abuse. SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 1, 2020)—Today, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP and Equal Justice Society (collectively, “Plaintiffs’ co-counsel”) filed a class action lawsuit in federal court in San Francisco, California, challenging the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Treasury (collectively “Treasury”)’s decision to withhold CARES Act economic assistance payments from incarcerated people nationwide.  The lead plaintiffs are Colin Scholl, currently incarcerated in Salinas Valley State Prison in Monterey, California, and Lisa Strawn, a woman paroled from San Quentin on July 14, 2020.  Plaintiffs and the proposed class seek a determination that Defendants’ conduct is illegal and an Order that they make the required payments immediately.
